A Brief History of
the WTA - Steven E. Hastings, Secretary / Treasurer
The Wilmington Trapshooting
Association (WTA) traces its roots to the duPont Gun Club; organized in
November 1910 with the duPont Company as it financial backer. This Club existed and sponsored shoots until
it disbanded in October of 1915. Many of the same shooters incorporated a new
shooting club, WTA, the following year, 1916. This was a “share holder” club
with Alfred I. and William DuPont as large share holders.
